Travis had slept through the whole ordeal with being carried into the Avenmore Prince's bed. Although he had felt that sometime in the night he was weightless and though his dreams cause him to think of falling, he felt completely safe. A warmth shivered through him, a feeling that would fate in and out throughout the night. The young prince snuggled close to this warmth, unknowing he was snuggling his body with Rian's. His dreams where of his home he had left behind, of his mother and father and of distant memories he had believed forgotten.

The world was strange and obsolete. Things, random things, objects, and weird material created by his own imagination's eye were poking and prodding at him. His body burned but he couldn't quite figure out why it was. He looked at his hands, in tact and full. His arms and tummy and legs and back all felt the same as his hands, weird and burning, but all at once, he couldn't figure out why. He seemed okay, he looked okay. He was wearing boxers. He was blushing. That was why, the burning was the blood rushing to his exposed limbs. He was noticing things around him now, like his mother in her chair by the piano. She pointed at it and he approached it wholesomely, sitting down and starting to play.
He played for a long time. His mind was so focused on the piano he didn't notice that he dressed himself and everyone was watching as he played and dressed at the same time. He didn't know how he did it but it was making sense some how, all of it. Even the fact that there was no solidity to this room, that there was no walls or ceiling or floor, just abyss, and objects floating inside said abyss, including himself and his family and their guests and the chair and the piano.

He winced as something touched him, and he saw Rian holding out a red cloth to him. Rian patted his brow with the cloth, because he was sweating. He was playing the piano still and he was playing it so quickly he'd broken out into a sweat. He laughed a little and continued to play faster and faster. He noticed something strange then, and he frowned. He stopped playing but of course the music continued, that's how things were. He looked at his hands and they were bloody. The piano was covered in razorwire. He stood.

"Who did this? Why would you ruin a perfectly good piano?" The people looked at each other and hustled and bustled uncomfortably at the question. His father turned from him, painting a wall that wasn't really a wall because it was void.

"Can't any of you hear me?"

The crowd dispersed and left himself with the piano and Rian still patting Travis's brow with the red cloth, and his mother still swaying to the music of the razorwire piano as everything faded away.

"You're Worthless!"

He struggled in his sleep, his breathing gaspish as cold sweat pelted across his face and down his neck grasping the bedsheets with white knuckled hands. Suddenly his flame blue eyes shot open wide in a gaze of pure terror and a loud carrying yell escaped his lips before he could collect himself. He didn't know where he was and it took a few minutes before his surroundings stopped spinning, sitting up and still heavily shaking he gazed about and spotted Rian. Unable to speak the boy closed his eyes and without warning he plunged against the other, nuzzling him and giving small sobs as his mind tried to escape the nightmare.

Still not awake Travis didn't know who lay beside him, who he clung too with fear--all he knew was that the figure gave off a protective dominant aura and that he could seek shelter from the night terrors still fresh in his mind.

Needless to say, Rian had a lot to consider before being so quick to fall asleep. Just when matters had seemed gray enough, things managed to become darker. As it had turn, not only had he illegally freed a prisoner, but a Nao prisoner nonetheless. If that were not enough, the prisoner was the forsaken prince of the rivaling kingdom. The announcement had come as a shock to Rian, and he remained silent, not moving a muscle. What could he do? This situation was uncanny, as if fate were playing whimsical tricks on him.

Patiently and lost in thought, Rian listened when Prince Travis told him that he was fatigued. He listened when Prince Travis thanked him; and he listened to the sound of the closet doors closing, allowing a soft "Goodnight" to slip through carefully. Not even a fortune-telling hag could foresee an event as bizarre and compromising as this. Stiffly, after Travis had gone to bed, Rian had done the very same, after a shower.

The prince lied in bed, arms bent behind his head as he stared up at the ceiling thoughtfully. His bed was massive because his bedroom was so incredibly spacious. Around his bed were drapes attached to four poles that reached toward the ceiling. Before sleeping, he would always shut the curtains, but tonight, he hadn't done so yet. He got onto his knees, like he usually did, but instead of unraveling the sheets, he climbed off of his bed and padded toward the closet.

He opened the double doors slowly, quietly, staring down at the topless royal impassively. Rian's eyes wandered briefly, but he remained focus on the task at hand; cautiously he stooped down and slid his hands beneath the other's body before pulling him up off the ground and holding him in his arms like some sort of . . . damsel in distress. Whether the prince woke up or not was of little concern to Rian, and he easily dumped him onto the large bedspreads of his bed.

The bed's curtains were opaque, impossible to see through; and no one was allowed to waltz into the prince's room and open those curtains - not even the cleaning staff. For the second and last time that night, Rian got into his bed, shut those maroon sheets, and slid beneath his blankets. He turned his back to Travis, not wanting to invade his privacy, and only then did he fall asleep.

With slight hesitation Travis stood with the help of the other prince, using his unbloodied hand he grasped the others tightly.. if only for a moment. Letting go once he was standing stable on his own he began to avoid the others eyes. It wasn't unlike him not to look at people whenever he felt intimidated or shy.. or fearful for their reaction of his following statements. Again he hesitated but this time with words, his mind and heart interlocking in a battle or feeling over reason. Tell the truth? Lie. -- He opened his mouth and at first words escaped him, but settling on his truth he could only hope it would benefit him. "I..." He began slowly gulping back the saliva that had collected in his mouth.

"I am Travis Blackavar. Prince of Nao."

He blurted out the rest and for a moment hoped that Rian had not heard the rest, though it was obvious he had. Well now what? Travis lowered his head and closed his eyes, gazing at the darkness inside his own skull. It seemed words would not be his best help at the moment and all he could do was remain silent and await what the other would say about this unwelcome guest of the neighboring kingdom. Continuing to keep his eyes closed his ears picked up the sounds nearby, the muffled sounds from a party still far from over as well as the fountain they had passed, splashing water eternally into the pool below.

Glancing up toward Rian he shook his head, the fountains babbling had been causing his brain to go fuzzy and fill with sleep. "F-Forgive me.. I'm so tired." Travis gazed across the room at the large comfortable looking bed and his heart gave a weak sigh, how he missed his bed.. it was not as extravagant as the one that stood before him but still it was his own bed. What he wouldn't give to simply lay down against his soft dove feathered pillow and curl into easy slumber. Travis exhaled gently, feeling his breath tickle the inside of his throat as he did so. He had a feeling he wouldn't be sleeping in his own bed anytime soon... and seeing as the Prince was not to keen on the boy himself he was sure for that matter that he would not even be sleeping in a bed.

Travis gazed sleepily around the room his blue eyes flitting to a closet close by the bed. He could remember as a child hiding in his own closet from his father when the man had been upset with him or simply in a foul mood. Travis felt a small sad smile cross his fragile features as he tentatively walked across the room to the closet and with a glance at Rian, opened it. It was surprsingly empty said for a few winter coats and blankets stored in a small hutch at the top of the closet. Obviously it was large enough for him to walk into and even curl up on the floor to sleep.

Turning eyes upon Rian he bowed his head, folding his hands neatly in his lap as he did so. "I think I should be safe in here." He murmured softly blue hues eying the Avenmore prince. "If someone was to enter your room.. I would not be discovered hidden in here." He paused for a long moment and bit his lip. "If... that is alright with you?"

Travis had set up his own little bed on the floor of the closet, using blankets and an extra pillow he had found, making sure Rian approved of all of it before getting ready to close the door and undress properly. "I... Thank you again Lord Rian." Travis said trying to give the other a soft smile but only managing a weak grimace. "I owe you my life for saving me.. Even if our kingdoms are at war, it seems that our only option now is peace." He seemed to be almost talking to himself, his eyes glassed over in thought. Giving his head another little shake Travis gave a weak chuckle and closed the doors, whispering as he did so. 'Goodnight.'

Travis sat on the floor in the center of his make-shift bed and proceeded to remove his traveling cloak, over-shirt, shirt and socks. Placing them all neatly in a pile he curled under his blankets, now only dressed in his pants and undergarments. What a day it had been. It felt as though an someone was writing a story about him and he was powerless to change anything that would intoe. Imagination aside he wondered what the other boy was thinking at that moment, with thoughts flooding his mind he was amazed it was so easy to fall asleep, curled with the blanket slightly covering his half-naked figure. His mouth slightly agape as he dreamed.

Rian scoffed. His evening had been ruined long before he had freed an Avenmore prisoner. He gave Travis a sharp look, using his eyes to tell the blond to keep quiet. Rian padded across the room to the grand doors, and stuck his chest out some, trying to make his voice sound normal and a lot less haggled than it probably was considering all of the stress he had acquired in just one evening. "Tell the princess that I have retired for the night."

"But your majes-"

"I won't be returning to the party. Politely deliver that message." Rian was feeling far from polite. All of his generosity had been sucked up from the twerp on his bedroom floor now. Clumsy, sickly - he was better off dead in that prison cell, wasn't he? Rude thoughts aside, when Rian could no longer hear the man who had interrupted the small tussle, but he stayed facing the door, arms falling at his sides while his fingers curled and balled into fists. Had his kingdom really murdered a couple? What had happened to the three men from before? Were there bodies rotting in that . . .

More importantly, what was he going to do about this boy in his bedroom? Sure, Rian had freed him from the dark cellar, but now he was just a prisoner to Rian's bedroom. Nothing good could come out of setting the other male free or returning him to that cellar. It took a few beats, but Rian eventually straightened out his thoughts. He knew what he would do - for the time being.

"To answer your question from before, I am not going to do anything to you. I don't want anything from you. As the Avenmore prince, I don't practice torture, execution - and neither should anyone else in this family." The last part was said more for himself, irritation wedging between each syllable. He turned back to where the other prince was sitting on the floor and walked over to him; but this time, he didn't yank him to his feet. Instead, Rian held out his hand, offering to politely help him up this time.

"Who are you?"

Travis was momentarily stocked as he was lifted up off the floor and for an instant off the ground completely, his face inches from the other he felt the heat raise in his own cheeks while also feeling the others irritated breathing. "Y-yes.. I didn't see them after they away behind that door." Travis was trying his best not to let his eyes swell with tears, it was one thing to be beaten up by guards.. but for some reason he feared this boys wrath far more than the muscle mass of the guards--he wasn't scared of dying.. but seeing as Rian controlled weather or not he would live to see the sunrise it was natural it fear him, he supposed.

"They.. were screaming." He slanted his eyes off to the side, pupils contracting as he tried to block out the memory. "She.. she was pregnant." Travis squirmed slightly and moved out of Rian's grasp, backing up and stumbling again over the stairs, falling over and sitting with his back to the window. Travis fought the tears that where battling to escape from the blue pools that turned with a gaze of helplessness toward Rian. "Wh..what are you going to do with me?"

Travis could only imagine what Rian planned to do.. for all he knew Rian could be like the guards or his father. And why did he save him? So that he might torture him and make him suffer for the boys own amusement? His heart raced fast as the speed of light and he shook his head. Something told him that his feelings of fear where simply that, fear. If the young Prince had wanted to bring him harm why take him from the prison? Why not leave him there and take him to the chamber where the others had been taken.

He suddenly gasped and clutched at his chest, the pain had returned as it always did, gripping him tightly though he was trying to get himself used to it now. When his father did speak with him he would tell the boy to grow up and take it like a man.. so that was what Travis attempted to do. Coughing a few times into his hand and hiding the blood in his palm from the other he winced back the pain and gazed into the others blazed brown eyes, his own holding uncertainty. Could this night get any more confusing or troublesome for either of them?

"Lord Rian!" A voice yelled from outside the biggest door in his room, obviously leading to the hallway of the castle. "Your father has requested your presence downstairs sir. Princess Avail wishes to share your hand in a dance." -- Travis gave a small giggle and bowed his head. "I'm sorry I ruined your evening." Well, at least he was attempting to be polite.

Prince Rian wasn't acquainted with sneaking out. He was bold, like his father. Sometimes their heads clashed, but they never had differing opinions. Everything that Rian knew was thanks to his father, perhaps, to Rian, the smartest man in the world. His hunger for knowledge had come from his father. The family painting of his family was precise in capturing the royal family's personalities. There was his father, the patriarch who stood tall and proud of himself and his family. Like Rian, King Ezra had black hair, but his eyes were gray, misty with age and wisdom. Then there was Queen Gwendelynn, just as stubborn as her husband and child. The impassive look that Rian always had came from her, though she had blue eyes and long, deep chocolate hair.

Rian had the look now as he saw Travis fall on his face. The prince prided himself on being rational and able to think in poor situations, and he hardly ever let emotions effect his decisions. So, why had he so easily gone and helped an Avenmore prisoner? This was a severe crime.

". . . You're prince Rian."

The prince grunted, feeling guilty and ill about his decision to bring this prisoner to his room. Why had he gone through the trouble? He mentally chided himself, realizing that he was a terrible heir. As king, he would have to deal with more prisoners than one; and he couldn't just go around freeing every blue-eyed stranger. It was the blue eyes, wasn't it? The queen had passed away many years ago, but all that Rian could ever recall were her blue eyes. Blue eyes were rare in Avenmore, and, depending on the person, blue eyes were treated as either blessings or curses.

Rian started to pace, keeping the lights off, finding them unnecessary. All of the curtains were open, giving the moonlight easy access. Plus, if someone decided to barge into his room, it would be easier to hide the prisoner. Rian looked back at the boy who was sitting on the floor. No, it wouldn't be easier to hide him; his blonde hair stuck out. "Damnit."

In between his pacing, he went to every door and locked it, making sure that no one could get in. He needed to think, and that was becoming harder to do. He could just throw this person back in the prison. Impulsively, he stalked back to the other prince and grabbed him by the shirt, hoisting him up onto his feet, "Tell me, those other prisoners that were with you, they were taken to the lower chambers and killed?" Rian asked, brown eyes on fire. If that were the case, then some very foul play was in order, and it needed to come out. All in all, Rian looked really irritated; it was less of Travis's fault and more of his own. He never should've acted so damned impulsively. Damnit!

OOC| Sorry to Mod you. Don't eat my soul.

Travis let loose a long exhale, no longer holding back his breath for fear the guards would hear him. When Rian returned with the keys Travis was at first confused, a small fearful smile creeping across his frail looking features. "Alright." He had no real intention of running from the other if this was his means to escape the musty smelling cage. When the doors opened Travis stepped forward and let the other lead him forward into the night.

The first traveled up the stairs and out of the prison to creep into the shadows that the palace trees pressed against the ground, no one at the party would be sober enough by now to notice two small figures scurrying away up toward the palace sleeping quarters. They passed through a large garden with a glorious fountain jetting water playfully down into its marble pools. A couple that had snuck away from the party sat nearby on a bench furiously sucking at either's face only breaking to let loose low moans with each touch.

Travis kept close to Rian, accidentally bumping into him once or twice as they continued to run toward a large tower with ivy growing heavy on its side. Rian had begun to climb up with ease and skill as if he had done it many times before on previous outings. Impressed by this, seeing as all Travis had ever done was to escape through a small passage way in the back of his closet. He also began to climb, clumsily and only slipping once. When Rian disappeared through a window Travis took it that he was to do the same and slowly pulled himself through.

The room was large and impressive with a massive oak bed in a corner and a few assorted dressers and wardrobes full of clothes and various trinkets. A large painting across from his bed on the opposing wall with the king of Avenmore, his queen and a young boy with a bored looking face... the boy who had saved him? Travis opened his mouth agape and stepped forward into the room, unlucky for him the windowsill had steps leading up to it and he had missed one, falling flat on his face in the middle of the room. "Ouch!" He grabbed at his face rubbing at his nose and gingerly touching the bruise that seemed to have puffed out from their first encounter.

"Y-You.. Your prince Rian." Travis grabbed at the pendent in his possession and quickly hid it under his clothes. He was sure if Rian knew who he was he would send him straight back to prison.. then again, maybe not--why had he saved him in the first place? Travis sat there on the floor and gazed down at his hands, flexing his thin fingers as if testing the reality around him.

Travis' blue eyes turned up back toward his... savior. The prince of his kingdom's sworn enemy, his sworn enemy? No. Travis never really had anything to do with the war, he let his father and his generals deal in those dark ways. He wasn't ignorant though, he knew that the Avenmore people where curl beasts without feelings of pity.. or did he? If their Prince had just saved his life then didn't that change everything he had thought he had known about them? Travis gave his head a little shake and again turned his attention to Rian. "I can't thank you enough." He said in a low voice giving the other male a small smile.

"How can I... repay you?"

No, this prisoner was lying. The guards of Avenmore and the king alike both knew that private executions were highly illegal. That was grounds for being assassinated without notice. If what this man was saying was true, then Rian's father was a criminal. For that reason, the accusation was a lie. The man was a con artist, a swindler, and yet Rian could not find it in his heart to physically disagree. "The lower chambers?" the prince questioned thoughtfully, remembering how he had asked his father about those chambers one day. Hesitantly, his father had said that the lower chambers were for the worse of criminals, those that would never see the light of day again; but his father had also told him that Avenmore was no longer allowed execute a common man or woman, not privately; not without paperwork from the World Court.

Screaming. The man and his wife had screamed, and that could only mean - no, Rian wouldn't believe it. He stared hard into the eyes of the captive person, debating on trusting him. The pleading was annoying, and it made Rian's reasoning falter. He had always wanted to be someone's hero, but he had never seen it this way. How could he be a hero by helping a man who was obviously emprisoned for a reason?

Damn those stupid blue eyes. Rian looked toward the opened door, hearing the sound of guards returning. There were two, having a jolly good time reminiscing about how much they had drank all night. Rian glanced at the other boy, unknowing of his royal standing, and then left without a word or a confirmation. He quickly walked through the dank and narrow corridor, rising up the stairs until he came to a faintly lit landing where the guards were standing.

"Eulice, Richard. Hand me the keys." was Rian's bare command. He stared at the two fumbling idiots, who were great guards when they were sober, but lousy when they weren't. Richard, a tall and burly man - taller than Rian - leaned forward, squinting his eyes angrily, "Why do you need the keys, Prince Rian?"

It was then that Rian decided it was time for a change of pace. It was time for him to lie. "My father has arranged for me to survey the lower chamber, Richard." Unmoving, the prince frowned, fine black eyebrows dipping down, "The keys, now." As a prince, Rian was aware of his capabilities, his powers. That he would survey the lower chamber was a lie, but he did intend to do something else with those keys. "Return to the party, and make sure that they guests don't leave with more than they came in with."

It wasn't much a bargain than it was a command, and when Rian received the loop of heavy metal keys, he stood there waiting for the guards to return to the party to watch the guests; but he knew that they would be back soon. He knew that his father would wonder why they didn't complete whatever their errand was. If the prisoner weren't lying, then those guards were heading down here to kill him.

Rian returned to the cell and jammed the master key into the hole of the lock. He didn't open the door just yet; instead, he held it shut so that he could say, "Stay quiet. Follow me. If you run, I will catch you; and I will kill you."

Travis timidly moved closer to the edge of the cage, making sure to keep himself out of reach of hands that seemed innocent enough.. though he knew without a moments notice they could snap toward his throat--that was how Avenmore people where, weren't they? Two faced. "Yessir... There was a young woman and her husband.. But they where taken into the lower chambers--Their screaming stopped some time ago." His voice trailed away as his blue hues slanted nervously towards the large wooden door that lead away into the darkness far below the city, within the secrets of all Avenmore--though naturally it was barred with a giant iron padlock.

No one but the King of Avenmore and his personal guard where permitted to enter this chamber, the punishment so severe to be pain of death if one where to set foot within its darkened hallways. Travis had spoken only briefly with the husband and wife who had been thrown in the jail cell along with him for 'High Treason Against The Kingdom' When Travis had inquired what they had done the man had explained that his wife was with-child and he had been seeking affordable medical help from a doctor that lived in Nao.. they would meet in secret in the forest and that was how they had been discovered. Travis was disturbed by how they said the guards had treated them, his eyes widened when they told him the doctor had been executed on the spot.

He was sure the couple had been taken into the catacombs to suffer the same fate as their doctor and was also sure he would soon suffer the same fate. "Please don't kill me!" Travis suddenly blurted out, covering his mouth and shaking his head. If he was to escape he must give his captor the same respect he would give his father. Little did he know Rian was a prince. The timid boy glanced up from the darkness, taking his hands away from his mouth and looking up into the others handsome face. He couldn't help but be momentarily stricken by the others beautiful features, his eyes raking over every inch of the other.. feeling the heat rise in his cheeks and knowing they must be turning red.

He would have spoken a small apology for gazing so long at the other male but instead fell silent, loud drunken voices where slowly growing by the second as a few of the guards made their way down towards the prison cells and away from the loud noises of the party. Travis felt his heart pounding heavy against his chest and was surprised the other was not questioning the loud pounding sound it made. Flitting blue hues back towards his young handsome captor he gave the man a look of helpless desperation.

"Please... I beg of you..."

Rian was tall, dark, and yes, even handsome, but the poor lighting of the prison cellar did not do his dark features any justice. The flickering flame of the torch in his hand lit one half of his face, causing shadows on the other half. He wished he was not wearing his ridiculous formal robes, but he had been to curious to change into something more comfortable. On the chest plate of his garb was the symbol of Avenmore, a golden pendant of a hawk that all royal officials wore. More precisely, the garb was an oversized maroon tunic with golden embroidery and patterns that was dawned over a cuffed and long-sleeved black shirt made from expensive silk and cuffed, black pants that sank beneath the head of his black boots.

"I'm here sir."

Keen ears picked up the sound of perhaps the sole living person in this prison, and ironically, Rian was pleased. If he had discovered that the prison was in fact empty, it could only mean that something terrible had happened to those three prisoners some days ago. He would never believe that his kingdom would partake in foul play unless striked first. That was why they were in their situation with Nao, or so Rian believed.

Black bangs fell around his face, against his temple and in front of his ears as they usually did, and all the rest of his hair was kept back by a small gold tie and the end of a healthy braid. When he heard the words of the prisoners, he immediately walked toward it, obvious unafraid of who he would see.

Wordlessly, Rian held the torch closer to the cell bars to see who it was that had responded to him; and what he saw was someone who hardly looked like the villainous sort. But Rian trusted the judgment of Avenmore's law systems.
